Foster Farm, KCLT’s first property acquisition, was purchased in the spring of 2026. While KCLT had been operating the residential property as an affordable rental since December 2022 through a use agreement, the purchase marks a milestone moment in Phase One of the organization’s growth.

Foster Farm’s historic homestead sits on 70 acres of forest, wetland and pasture within the Mink Hills, traditional Abenaki territory. KCLT, in partnership with Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust and the Warner Conservation Commission is working to secure a conservation easement to protect the beautiful Ballard Brook which feeds into the Warner River, and wildlife habitat on the property, making it a central link to a corridor of conserved lands across the Mink Hills.

With the purchase of Foster Farm, KCLT is immediately delivering on its mission of providing stable and affordable housing and land conservation and beginning to work on how Foster Farm will fit into the additional mission objectives of farmland access and indigenous land access.
